What are the default memory options on the Cisco SUP720?
We helped a customer today with the default memory configuration on the WS-SUP720 Supervisor Engine for the Catalyst 6500 series switch. The current default memory configuration is as follows:
The SUP720 consists of the supervisor engine and an MSFC3 daughterboard. The MSFC3 holds both the bootflash and the DRAM for the supervisor and MSFC3.
Starting in May 2005, Cisco increased the default bootflash memory on the Supervisor from 64MB to 512MB (but not the MSFC3).
As of today, we understand the default memory to be:
Supervisor Bootflash: 512MB Part #: MEM-C6K-CPTFL512M (Requires: CF-ADAPTER-SP)
Supervisor DRAM: 512MB Part #: MEM-S2-512MB
MSFC3 Bootflash: 64MB
MSFC3 DRAM: 512MB Part #: MEM-MSFC2-512MB
