Why Cisco wants You to Buy New
Setting up a network for your business can be expensive if you buy all new technology, but Cisco doesn't necessarily want you to buy used. Find out why Cisco wants you to buy new here.
Tip: To save big on Cisco network equipment, find a reputable Cisco certified reseller.
Setting up a business network can be quite an expense, especially if you purchase all new technology. If the latest and greatest network equipment is exactly what your business needs, then you will find that pre-owned Cisco equipment is a lot cheaper than brand new equipment. However, Cisco doesn't necessarily want you to buy used.
Cisco has been a force behind the network equipment industry and consumer electronics for quite some time, but they have always operated in the background rather quietly. However, they are now doing their best to push their brand to the forefront of the industry.
Cisco has been working hard to lose their background stereotype as they have been buying up other brands left and right. In 2003, they bought Linksys. In 2005, they purchased Scientific-Atlanta. With all of these brands under their belt, don't be surprised to see Cisco begin putting their name out in the market even more. This is just one of the reasons that Cisco wants you to buy all new products; they're really trying to get their brand out there.
On the other hand, Cisco wants you to buy new because they don't want to promote the resale market. This is due in part because of the large amount of counterfeit products that are coming out of countries such as China. With the threat of all of this counterfeit product stealing their sales, they tend to treat the resale industry with the same mind set. The company does its best to inject the fear of counterfeit products into the consumer in an effort to persuade them to take the safe route and purchase all new networking equipment.
Unfortunately, for a new company just getting started in the marketplace. Brand new Cisco equipment is simply too expensive. These businesses need to save as much as they can and the resale industry allows them to do that. These companies are devoted to only selling consumer legitimate, refurbished Cisco products. They have no intention of selling counterfeit products, as this sheds a bad light on the resale industry as a whole.
Providers of refurbished Cisco networking equipment set high standards for their equipment and they only have the consumer's best interest in mind. Because of this, many of these companies also work with law enforcement agencies to catch the counterfeit Cisco equipment before it is sold to the public. Even though Cisco wants you to buy new, Cisco certified resellers are doing their best to ensure that you get high-quality refurbished networking gear at a price you can afford.
