How to Package
Know Your Product Before packaging your product it is important that you first get to know your product. Pay close attention to the product's WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS. Use this information to select the appropriate box for your packaging. We always recommend that our customers use DOUBLE WALL (DW) boxes whenever possible. Single wall boxes are light and do not offer protection from being tossed around by the shipping companies. |
Use Anti-Static Materials If the product you are shipping is electronic, we recommend using an anti-static wrap (bag or plastic). This will protect the product against static-electricity which is one of the major causes of malfunction for electrical equipment. Many packing materials such as peanuts, paper, newspaper and more contain static electricity.

Use Bubble Wrap Much of the damage to products during shipping can be attributed to not having enough protective wrapping around the product. It is also important to choose a wrapping that is well padded and strong enough to support the product as it is jossled around in it's box. We recommend that you use "BUBBLE WRAP" whenever possible. Bubble wrap usually comes in large rolls but can be purchased in smaller quantities from local packaging stores. Foam packaging is an even better alternative but is often too expensive for most people. Always AVOID PAPER TOWELS, NEWSPAPER, TOILET PAPER, or similar to protect your product.
Use Enough Padding Material Always use enough padding material to wrap your product. Do not skimp on material to save a little money. It might end up costing you more in the long run. A good rule of thumb is to make sure you have AT LEAST 2 INCHES of padding on all sides of your product. If the product is heavy, consider up to 4-5 Inches of padding.
Wrap it Tight Wrap the product tightly taking care not to damage any sensitive areas of the product. Use a good quality tape (avoid masking tape). A tight wrapping will ensure that the product does not come loose from its wrapping during shipment. |
Choose the Right Box Choosing the appropriate box for your product is extremely important. Remember that the box will go through many stops along the way. Shipping companies toss these boxes around their trucks, planes and warehouses without regards for their contents. It's up to you to protect what is inside. Because of this we recommend that you always use DOUBLE WALLED boxes. Double walled boxes are dual layered and are strong enough for most products. If the product is extremely heavy, you may want to consider using a triple walled box or better. |
Use a Good Quality Packing Material Use a good quality packing material. Packing PEANUTS are easy to use and provide good protection. For large/heavy items, consider using a custom foam packaging solution. Remember to provide enough padding on the bottom of the box, usually 2 to 5 inches of padding is sufficient.
2 Inches / All Sides Remember to allow for 2 INCHES or more of packing material on all sides including top and bottom. The more padding the better!
Pack Tightly Fill any and all empty spaces around the product. If using peanuts, you can run your hands down each side to ensure that the packing material fills the entire box and the product is secured tightly. Fill the box with enough packing material so that it forms a tight fit. Tape the top of the box using 3 strips of good quality tape. One down the middle and one each to either side. Use 2 layers of tape for heavier items.
